1. Health and Safety Update
We will have three talks by members of St John’s Chambers:-
a) Applying the code for prosecutors and application of the HSE protocol
Simon Morgan of St John’s Chambers will discuss how to avoid:-
– expensive mistakes
– charging too many offences
– submissions of “no case” and
– abuse of process arguments
by proper application of the appropriate codes and protocols
b) The Criminal Procedure Rules 2010, the CPIA and the new Practice Directions
Simon Goodman will provide a review of the current state of play and new weapons in the armouries, including a look at new case management powers and the developing duties of disclosure on the part of the defence.
c) Health & Safety Case Law
Nigel Fryer will provide an update on recent case law.

Join guest speaker, Alan Crouch, from the Judicial Appointments Commission for a session that will provide you with a practical guide on how to improve your chances of judicial selection.
