Pro Bono Opportunity in London
10 January 2010
LawWorks, the solicitors pro bono group, has asked SLG to see if it can find a volunteer to run a Debt training session.
LawWorks runs free CPD accredited training in areas of social welfare law for all its members, basically to support pro bono legal advice sessions in clinics. They are looking to hold the Debt Advice session in May. Attendees will not be specialists in this area but will usually be solicitors of varying degrees of experience. The session lasts an hour and normally take the structure of a lecture with questions at the end. They expect about 30 attendees. The session will be held in the evening from 6.30 till 7.30, though if more convenient for the trainer can take place over lunch. The session will be held in central London and hosted by one of their member firms.
This is an ideal opportunity for a SLG member in the London and Home Counties Branch to undertake some pro bono work and if you have the knowledge and skills to do this we would urge you to volunteer. Please contact Megan Pearson if you are interested.
