Job description
As the Head of Legal and Democratic Services based at the Fire and Rescue Service Headquarters, Winsford, you’ll provide support and advice to the Service Management team and Members of the Fire Authority on a wide range of general legal matters, act as the in-house Monitoring Officer and manage the Legal and Democratic Service’s resources.
In this challenging role, you’ll undertake a wide variety of legal work including contracts, procurement, partnerships, information law and enforcement. You’ll have substantial post-qualification and working knowledge of at least one of these areas and be flexible enough to advise on others.
You’ll need to lead, manage, motivate and develop the Legal and Democratic Services team and manage the ongoing modernisation of the department to ensure services are delivered in the most effective and efficient manner.
Experience of the provision of legal advice to a Fire Authority or a local authority would also be desirable. You’ll be expected to have excellent communication and report drafting skills, together with a proactive approach.
