New convenors needed for the Trainee and Junior Lawyer SIG

15 December 2009

It was great to see so many of you at the Trainee and Junior Lawyers SIG meeting last week. It was difficult to talk with everyone due to the layout of the table but we hope you had a good evening and enjoyed the networking.

We explained at the meeting that we are both soon to be leaving our current jobs moving on to solicitor posts at other local authorities. We both start our new jobs on 4th January.

We have really enjoyed our time as convenors of this SIG but we feel now is the time to step down as we will both be busy in our new jobs and also we want to give other people the opportunity to be convenors.

If anyone is interesting in becoming a convenor then please get in contact with Leyna or myself, if you need more information then we would be more than happy to discuss with you. It doesn’t matter whether you know someone to be joint convenor or not – we will try and link up people where we can. We didn’t know each other when we started out as convenors but definitely found it useful to share the workload with someone.

It would seem sensible that the new convenor or joint convenors were at the beginning of their training contracts to allow maximum continuity. In order to assist in a smooth handover we are happy to arrange or assist in the arranging of the next meeting for February/March if needed (as much as we can depending on the demands of our new jobs).

We really hope that one or a couple of you would like to take over the group as we have really found it worthwhile and hope you have too. The sooner you could let us the know the better as we both finish on 22 December and don’t yet know our new email addresses so it would be good to resolve this while still in our current posts.

Kind regards and all best wishes for the festive season,

Helen and Leyna
