SIG meeting - 1 October 2009, York

13 August 2009

A meeting has been arranged for the SIG on Thursday 1 October 2009. It is to be held at the York office of Dickinson Dees and commences at 2pm.

A location map and directions to the York ‘Chocolate Works’ Office are attached.

Following the SIG meeting Linda Walker, formerly Head of Legal at Durham Council and now Head of Public Sector and Governance for Dickinson Dees, will deliver a session on Career Progression.

The Career Progression session will cover applications and CVs – what makes them good or bad, interviews and generally selling yourself!

Neither the law or local government are recession proof careers and the JLD believe that it is junior lawyers who are being most affected by the current economic downturn. We believe that regardless of whether you are in the second week of your training contract or are content in your current role that this session will be of relevance and have something to offer you! It will also attract free CPD points.

The session should wrap up for 5pm, but for those of you who are able we will be organising a social activity in York that evening. Any and all suggestions welcome!

Please could you e-mail Helen or Leyna with agenda items and to indicate whether you will be attending the SIG and / or would be interested in attending a social event. If you have any questions or comments please do not hesitate to contact us:

Leyna Stewart
(01609 532 792)

Helen Hirst
(01423 556 148)

Please note that while membership of the SIG is for trainees and solicitors up to 5 years PQE we operate an open door policy, therefore if you know a legal officer, paralegal etc who would be interested in coming or a trainee / junior lawyer who is not on our mailing list please let us know.

We look forward to seeing you on 1 October,

Leyna and Helen
